Toshiyuki Doi (Toshi) is currently Academic Advisor with the Institute of Asian Studies (IAS) at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. He is also Senior Advisor with Tokyo-based NGO Mekong Watch. Over the past 25 years, Toshi has been monitoring impacts of development finance on the Mekong region, particularly marginalized and vulnerable local communities’ access to natural resources such as river, forest, and land. His research interests include policies and practices of multilateral and bilateral development institutions such as the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). He has also carried out several research and other activities on revitalization of languages, cultures, and traditions of Indigenous Peoples and ethnic minorities in Asia.
